Instagram analyses every single action we perform from our accounts.
Depending on the quality of these actions, the account trust score can raise or drop.
The account trust score is how Instagram ranks your profile — You are either trustworthy or spam-like. Spam-like accounts are at risk of getting shadowbanned or banned altogether. There is not a way known to the outside world to check your trust score. If you are shadowbanned on Instagram, your content won’t appear on anyone’s feed unless they already follow you. You won’t even know it’s happening till it happens.
Behaviour that negatively affects Instagram trust scores:
• Following and unfollowing aggressively
• Repetitive Comments and hashtags
• Messaging people who don’t follow you
• Fake followers, comments and likes (obviously)
• Posting too many times per day
Behaviour that positively affects Instagram trust scores:
• Posting consistently (not constantly)
• Commenting / Liking posts in your feed
• Removing false followers
• Engaging with your audience
• Connecting your Facebook account and following your Facebook friends (it’s something bots can’t do)
Instagram is constantly fighting against spam accounts and bots, in 2020 NO ONE should be buying Instagram followers. The platform is constantly analysing every action you take on your accounts, personal and branded accounts. There is no exact way to see your trust score, but it definitely exists. If you start to see some features being blocked, get shadowbanned, it’s probably time you did things a little differently.
Shadow bans: If you are shadowbanned on Instagram, your content won’t appear on anyone’s feed unless they already follow you. Making it INSANELY difficult to grow your account. We have seen some accounts which do not even appear in search results despite being the ‘biggest page’ under that search term.
Ultimately, maintaining positive behaviour will keep a healthy trust score which goes some way to ensuring the growth of your Instagram page. Want to talk about Advertising on Instagram? Get in touch here.
